William Shakespeare was born in Stratford in 1564 and married Anne Hathaway in 1582. They had three children together: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Shakespeare had a successful career in London as a playwright and poet, writing 37 plays and 154 sonnets. Some of his most famous works include Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth. Shakespeare was a founding member of the Lord Chamberlain's Men theatrical troupe, which later became the King's Men performing company patronized by King James.
