3. History of the term
The word comes from the Greek:(paisphilia):
(pais), "child“
(philia), "friendship".

4. Two Categories:

5. Causes
The cause or causes of pedophilia
are not known.

6. Symptoms
• sexually active with a prepubescent child
or children (generally age 13 years or younger).
• Intensive sexually arousing fantasies

7. Diagnostic Criteria's
A. Symptoms present for at-least six months
B. The sexual urges or fantasies cause marked
distress or interpersonal difficulty
C. The Pedophilic is at least age 16 years
D. The Pedophilic is at least five years older
than the child

8. psychological characteristics
 Low self-esteem & poor social skills
 Have lower IQ
 Poorer scores on memory tests
 Non-right-handedness
 Lesser physical height
