establishing shot- interrorgation room
The shot begins with unnamed criminal being interviewed, supposedly in some sort of police
investigation. the screen initially is black and fades to the image of criminal sitting at a table in a
blank room. While the fade commences the SFX of a camera switching on is heard, as if the
camera is being switched on for the interview.
Looks at the camera directly breaking the 4th wall, making the events more personal to the
audience.
Actors face has a sort of malevolence in his smirk, is composed as he begins his confession.
Camera at a slightly low angle alluding to the criminals dominance
SFX- camera being
switched on, simple
sound that all audience
can identify as the
camera being switched
on
No music, purposefully don’t to draw
attention to the diegetic narration of
unnamed criminal
Admits to killing the victim, “I did
it, (pause) I can still remember it,
what she looked like…felt like)”

Narration of criminal becomes non-diegetic,
as he narrates over the shots.
Begins to describe the victims eyes, “
her blue eyes like soul filled diamonds”
Narration of the interviews overlays the shot on screen the criminal
begins to describe the victim, begins with her eyes. As this begins the
shot transitions to an extreme close up of the victims eyes.
This shot marks the start of a miniature montage of a description of the
victim, alluding to her demise. While also teaching the audience that this
is the criminals account and so we only see what he see’s. The effect of
the overall montage is not only to describe the victim but to enlighten
the audience to the elation that the criminal felt, which his heard
through his pleasure of the description and vivid detail given.

High
angle
This shot marks the end of the end of the mini montage,
with an overall image of the victim. The shot is filmed from a
slightly higher angle to make out that the narrator was
dominant over the passive victim. The shot is literally a 2
second shot of the victim standing there, as to show an
overall image of the victim.
The narrator recalls how
he recalls the victim
perfectly

This shot has the victim laying dead in the same spot she was standing on the
previous shot, now that the victim is now on the floor the high angle is
naturally higher.
Making the victim look helpless, the mise en scene of the scene alludes to the
death through the blood on the floor and the murder weapon found on the
floor.
The shortness of the scene highlights the gritty nature of the shot.
Screeching noise, like
a scratch on a violin
plays for the half
second-its effect is to
shock the audience.
No dialogue now just a pause in
narration, drawing focus to the

POV
Music
Dialogue
This POV shot is taken from the perspective of the dead corpse of the victim, the
shot opens with the camera being upside down viewing the narrator, swinging
backwards and forwards as the corpse is being held on a butchers hook in the
killers kill room.(0:00-0:08)
the effect of this is disorientate the audience, littered around the are various
tools that allude to the varied tactics the killer uses. the corpse is then dropped
to the floor(0:08-0:09), still in the POV perspective of the corpse we see the
killers feet leave the kill room, and reenter with plastic wrap and a wheel
barrow.(0:09-0:21)
finally being from a different viewing
perspective the scene becomes more
visceral. to reflect this the sounds is
entered into the mix, other than that of
the narration.
SFX- creaking and wind through out
shot suggesting the remoteness of the
kill room.
SFX-during the back and forth swinging
squeaking of the chains can be heard.
SFX- THUD of the corpse when dropped
to the floor
SFX- footsteps when the killer renters
room
no music
narration begins to describe how he
dealt with the body after taking it to
his kill room, slowly fades out when
he mentions the butcher hook. to let

POV
the shot is filmed as a continuation ton the previous shot only this time the body is
readjusted so as to give a Low angle view of the killer, strengthening the idea of his
success and dominance. suddenly a plastic sheet is wrapped around the camera to
create the effect of the body being also wrapped in the plastic wrap(0:04-0:07 ). the
plastic wrap itself serves as Mise en scene as it adds a sense of almost
professionalism to the killer.

the shot then cuts back to the interview a mid shot of the supposed killer from a low
angle , where now the supposed killer asks the camera "so did I get the part"
this dialogue is important as it leads the viewers to question what they have just
seen, did this murder take place or is this person truly just an actor at an audition.
after the dialogue is finished at 0:03 the actor/killer gives one more sinister look

While the fade commences the SFX of a camera switching on is heard, as if the camera is being switched on for the interview. Looks at the camera directly breaking the 4th wall, making the events more personal to the audience. Actors face has a sort of malevolence in his smirk, is composed as he begins his confession. Camera at a slightly low angle alluding to the criminals dominance SFX- camera being switched on, simple sound that all audience can identify as the camera being switched on No music, purposefully don’t to draw attention to the diegetic narration of unnamed criminal Admits to killing the victim, “I did it, (pause) I can still remember it, what she looked like…felt like)”
  • 3. Shot Number: Shot Length Action Shot Type Edit IN Edit OUT Sound Effects / Atmosphere Music Dialogue 2 ECU 5 secs No music Narration of criminal becomes non-diegetic, as he narrates over the shots. While also teaching the audience that this is the criminals account and so we only see what he see’s. The effect of the overall montage is not only to describe the victim but to enlighten the audience to the elation that the criminal felt, which his heard through his pleasure of the description and vivid detail given.
