2. Early Life
• George Pal was born in Hungary on February
1st 1908.
• He attended the Budapest Academy of Arts
and graduated in 1928, at age 20.
• Three years later he invented the “Pal-Doll”
better know as ‘Puppetoons’.
3. • At age 32 he emigrated from Europe, and
moved to America to began work for
Paramount Pictures.
• Following five films he made for Horlicks
Malted Milk.
• In the 1940s he made a series called
‘Puppetoons’, which lead him to be awarded
an honorary Oscar in 1943.

• In 1950 he made the film Destination Moon,
and received a special effects Oscar for his
work.
• He also received an Oscar for his special
effects work on The War of the Worlds 1953.
