A slide is something visual to support your spoken presentation. You say all those words, don’t put them on the slide. If you want to be sure people go away with the full information, give a handout with it.
Put yourself in the audience – what’s your attention on with Bill Gates? What’s your attention on with Steve Jobs?
Capacity to take in information and process it is very limited. We can only process a few bits of information at a time. In a live presentation, a person is not able to control the pace. If your topic is very new, they will need more processing capacity to get it. So this amount of text ON TOP OF a speaker saying these things is overwhelming to working memory. If your intention is learning, this is deadly. Less deadly if you don’t care about them remembering, but, they will still experience overwhelm. In a presentation – person can’t control pace – they may be bored as an expert or lost as a novice – you need to try to facilitate processing as much as possible
An image is worth a 1000 words – what words?Sometimes in our attempts to use less text, we try to use images more. Images are great, but, they need to be used thoughtfully and purposefully

Be careful about existing mental models – you don’t want to evoke something that’s contrary to the objective
What would you do? How would you turn it around? Just use the title! Also – of all this info, what is the most important? What’s the pith?
CRAP and examplesIf you’re “not creative” or not an artistic designer, go to the rules

Proximity – make it clear what information goes together with space
Alignment – the center alignment is hard for the eye to follow – if you change one thing – stop center aligning text
Alternate alignment
Contrast – make the title and presenter info very different – here we changed sizes more, use of sans serif fonts and serif fonts; also used size differences in the title
