2. Chemoinformatics –Tool of the Year Contest
Initiated by Dr. Luc Patiny in collaboration with the MDPI open access journal Challenges.
The aim is to support open source development in the area of chemoinformatics.
Conditions of Participation:
1)submitted projects must be licensed under a typical open source license; and
2)the source codemust be available online (e.g. on Github)
3. 1stPrize
The first prize is awarded to Norman Pelletfor his open source project jsGraphsand jsNMR– Advanced Scientific Charting.
These two javascriptprojects present advanced charting capabilities that do not only allow to display data with error bars in various formats, but also feature annotations, spectra display and assignment.

The second prize is awarded to John Overingtonand his team for their projects ChEMBLBeaker: A lightweight web framework providing robust and extensible cheminformaticsservices and myChEMBL: a virtual machine implementation of open data and cheminformaticstools.
These great projects set up fundamentals for online cheminformaticsservices and sharing bioactivity data.

6. The journal Challenges(mdpi.com/journal/challenges) will publisha special issue dedicated to this contest and the symposium on chemoinfomartics.
Everyone is invited to submit a short paper describing their software tools or their work presented on this symposium.
One page software descriptions with source code available online will be published after editorial review. Short papers about work presented on this symposium will be peer-refereed.
Challenges is an open access journal. The page charges are fully waivedfor papers submitted to this special issue.
