We’ll start at the beginning of the day. How do most college students wake up? Probably an alarm clock or cell phone alarm. But not W&J students, we are awakened to face the day by the glorious sounds of construction. It’s an every day all day thing, so you’ll never have to worry about sleeping through class..

Once you’re finally up and out of bed you may put in your contacts, take some allergy medicine and make some coffee or eat something to wake you up and get you going. During this time you check your phone at least 20 times for text messages and the multiple emails the school likes to send out this time of day. You may even have time to feed your pet fish.

Once you have all that situated it’s time to get a shower and make yourself look presentable for the day. Most people on campus share a bathroom with at least two other people. Hopefully, you have a shower schedule worked out so you aren’t all fighting to get in ten minutes before class. That never goes well, and you end up going to class looking like a bum.
Whether you’re clean or not, you have to put on some sort of clothing. But the decision is always a hard one. Do you dress for the three hundred degree rooms on campus such as old main, or the three degree rooms in burnett? You end up wearing layers and putting on and taking off clothes all day.
Once you’re dressed and ready to go it’s time to walk to class. You may walk with a group of friends, or walk/ run alone. Campus is small, thank goodness, so you can get anywhere in around ten minutes depending on the traffic at the light. There’s usually construction here too, so you have to avoid that while trying to not get hit by a car. It’s kind of like that old game frogger.
At W&J, walking to class always includes at least one flight of stairs. My personal favorite are the stairs in old main. When I walk them, it’s like my workout for the day and saves me a trip to the gym. They’re vary narrow though, so everyone has to be careful not to fall down them, or in my case trip up them.
After all the walking and stairs, you get to class. This photo is from my chem 160 lab last year. MAKIN BEER Many students here at wj take lab classes, but if you’re lucky enough to avoid them, you’re probably going to one of the multiple academic buildings here on campus and learning hours worth of knowledge.
Here at w&J the weather is unpredictable. Some days you can walk out of class into a giant rainstorm. This is the reason for the superfluous amount of rainboots and boatshoes owned by the wj population. This photo was taken during a water main break last year, but I thought it accurately represented the amount of downfall we get per semester.
Once you get back to your room, you’re going to attempt to do homework. I lay out all of my work to be done, make a list, get a snack, as you can see by the cheeseballs. I open my books up and tell myself that I’m going to get so much accomplished so I can go to sleep early. I put on some relaxing music, chill out, relax a little bit…
And end up going to sleep. Most students here have a lot of homework per night and usually avoid doing it until late in the evening, causing them to get minimal hours of sleep. When we were younger, our parents had to force us to go to bed or take naps, but now we willingly accept them with open arms.
Once you finally awaken from your nap, you go find some friends to hang out with. I mean you’ve obviously been really productive and deserve to take a break. Most of the time you’ll have a study session and take out your notes and attempt to read something but keep rereading the same sentence over and over again. Eventually you just stop trying and watch tv.
You’ve been working really hard but its time to go do your extracurricular activities. Most students on campus are involved in something, be it greek life, sports, clubs, or a work study. Maybe you play an instrument like me. These activities take time out of your day but are usually very rewarding.
