Positioning Statement –The difference in music
Frequency of publication - Monthly
Price - £2.49
Distribution – Supermarkets, News Agents, websites, subscriptions and music shops. It will also be available
digitally via NewStand on iPhones/iPads.
Rationale –The magazine I am going to create will be original. It is going to be different to other music
magazines although it will consist of a similar format that has been tried and tested with other music magazines.
Each month it will include a free music download, reviews of themonth’s concerts and albums. There is going to a
column by well-known artists. Each month there are feature articles such as exclusive interviews from wellknown or upcoming artists. The aim of this magazine is to compete in the market against other indie music
magazines such as NME, Q and MOJO. This magazine is going to be a good competitor as it will only feature
indie artists, whereas the others feature a variety.
Style –The language in my magazine is going to be informal, with simple English making it understandable to
most readers. There will be bits of slang, as the target audience is 16 – 20 year olds, the slang will make the
magazine appeal to the targetaudience.
