This document discusses how a media product followed conventions of real media. It kept interview subjects in medium close ups and had them stay still. It used a close up food shot to mix it up and prevent boredom. It included archive footage to link elements. It used upbeat songs to maintain a positive mood and engagement. It included captions with names and roles of interviewees in a basic font similar to reference documents. The title featured a takeaway food clip relating to the topic. Interviews included relevant props. It used appropriate backgrounds and balanced lighting to clearly see subjects. A narrator introduced facts and explained the story to prevent confusion.

or challenge conventions of real media products?

2. For interview shots we kept the
interviewee’s at medium close ups, mid
shots or close. We tried to keep the
interviewee’s eye’s a third way down.
We told interviewee’s to try to stay still
so there was minimal movement and so
they could be seen clearly.

3. We used a close
up of the food. We
did this to mix up
the documentary
and use a different
shot of food being
eaten so the
documentary
wouldn’t get
boring.

4. We used this archive footage(Of a Burger King
advert) to link the documentary and
interviews.

5. We used several
songs in our
documentary,
keeping the mood
upbeat and positive
and so the audience
didn’t get bored.

6. We used captions to
tell the audience
who the interviewee
was, we included the
name and how they
related to the
documentary, we
used a simple and
basic font like that of
the documents
which we watched.

7. For our title we
used a clip of a
takeaway being
eaten which
relates to our
documentary and
cuts up shots.

8. We structured
the interview
to include
relevant items
and props e.g.
the cooker.

9. We used relevant backgrounds which kept in
with the theme of our documentary.

10. We kept a balanced lighting so it was easy to
see the interviewee.

11. We used a narrator throughout the documentary
to tell the audience what was happening so they
didn’t get confused, we also used the narrator to
introduce facts. In our interviews we made sure
the interviewee didn’t look directly into the
camera and that there was enough space so the
shot look relaxed and not squashed in. We also
positioned the interviewee on one side and
relevant objects on the other.
