3. PYTHAGORAS Philosopher who studied Mathematics. Lived during 580 – 500B.C. He is famous because of the theorem named after him.

4. THALES

5. THALES Greek philosopher who studied Mathematics. Measured the height of a pyramid using similarity. Predicted the date of an eclipse of the sun. Lived during 640 – 546 B.C.

6. ARISTOTLE

7. ARISTOTLE Greek philosopher who studied Mathematics and was a student of Plato. His works contain the earliest known formal study of logic, especially deduction. His views about physical subjects lasted until Isaac Newton’s time. Lived during 384 – 322 B.C.

8. EUCLID

9. EUCLID Greek Mathematician lived in Alexandria. Famous for geometry. Born in 300 B.C. Wrote 13 volumes on geometry.

10. ARCHIMEDES

11. ARCHIMEDES Famous Greek physicist and mathematician. Lived during 287 – 212 B.C. Made discoveries in geometry, hydro statistics and mechanics. Invented the principle of lever and gave the concept of density.
