- For me it was easy, the first social network I joined was Couchsurfing back in 2006
- My first 3 blog posts were about nothing much in particular – mainly about starting to blog, and being scared. Once you get started and get in the groove it gets a bit easier.
- Don’t try and be Dylan Thomasor Lewis Carroll, be yourself with all of your tone and nuances but capture you in your writing and your social media. This takes practice. I was very insecure about my writing at first, but your tone and voice develops with practice. Let your personality come through.
- Tell stories, with words and visuals, bring your readers in…Know your strengths. Work on your weaknesses. Read other blogs to get ideas.
- Use fun themes eg. Vines, instagramsetc…
- Don’t be ordinary. Be orginal and authentic. Let your personality come through. Most of all Have fun.
- Since I’m not much good at SEO, most of my traffic comes from social channels. That being said, don’t broadcast. RT, share others content, comment, respond. Be personal & personable.
- Join networks, start your tribe. Help. Be kind and sincere. Build trust
- Or join a community.E.g. Instagrammerscommunity in every city that have regular instawalks@UncleScrooch > 50000 followers, @GarethPon > 70,000 followers on Instagram.
- Read other blogs, learn from others. Join learning networks such as GBN and South African travel bloggers network on Facebook. Join niche communities. So much support from this community.
- Create calls to action. Inspire. Start your movement.
- Share yourlove! Be sincere the rest will follow.
