This document is a letter of intent from Ashley Metzgar explaining her interest in pursuing a specialization in graphic design along with a degree in creative advertising at Michigan State University. She discusses feeling overwhelmed by career options as a transfer student but realizing advertising is what interests her most. While advertising is already visual, she wants to study graphic design more in-depth to complement an advertising degree. Ashley believes her creative background and organized personality will help her succeed in these programs.
2. Letter of Intent:
As a first year transfer student to Michigan State University
from the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago, I was overwhelmed
with the number of possibilities and career paths I had to
choose from. During the last two semesters I have spend a lot
of time exploring the different opportunities and realized that
creative advertising is what I have been searching for. Although
advertising is already a visual business, I would like to pursue
the visual aspect more in depth by studying graphic design as
well. A graphic design specialization would complement an
creative advertising degree, providing me with a variety of
skills, ultimately creating more opportunities for my future. I
am confident that with my creative artistic background, ability
to communicate with others and my organized personality that
I will be successful with in these two departments. I have a lot
of pride to be a Spartan and am excited as well as motivated to
finally have something specific to work toward.
