MICHAEL MINDLIN
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With a background in design, management and business development, Michael brings a wealth of experience
and a unique perspective to the profession. This diversity of experience has given him the ability to create a
culture of innovation and a highly successful practice for several international companies including Suttle
Mindlin and HOK. Team building, collaboration, and innovative management practices are all part of his
approach to motivating large groups of people to strive for excellence and innovate in all areas of business. His
expertise and broad‐based knowledge allows him to understand and translate each client’s needs into precise
deliverables, as well as oversee all aspects of design and project management. Michael is instrumental in the
creation of a strategy and design solution for each client. He actively participates throughout the design and
technical phases to insure our work is continually focused on the client’s needs.
At Jacobs, Michael is the Midwest Discipline Director for Architecture and is part of the national leadership
responsible for building an innovative, integrated and high performance international architectural practice. In
this role, Michael is helping to define and inculcate a culture of striving, design and technical excellence. He is
also responsible for project delivery, design and business development. At Suttle Mindlin, Michael’s
responsibilities encompassed the creation of the firm’s unique business strategy and its implementation;
financial organization; business development strategy and marketing; client relationships; as well as planning
and design. The business was organized around core competencies that clearly differentiated the practice and
allowed the firm to work collaboratively with other project professionals. The firm was unique in its approach
to serving its clientele… acting at times like an ad agency helping its clients communicate with customers,
markets, or employees. The firm positioned itself at the cross‐roads of dramatic changes in our culture that
affect business, development, wellness, hospitality, and need to create sustainable, authentic communities. In
fact, the creation of culture was one of the firm’s most important services… and remains a core competency.
