God and His Son are two distinct, individual persons. While fully united in purpose and character, they are not identical. God is the Father of Christ, who is His Son. The Scriptures, including Christ's prayer in John 17, clearly portray both the relation and separate personalities of God and Christ. They have existed in complete unity from eternity.
