• The term “21st century” has become the central
part of educational thinking and planning for
the future.
• Administrators and Teachers are actively
searching for ways to prepare students for the
future, and the educational system has been
evolving faster than ever before.
• Creating a 21st century educational system is
about making sure that all students are
prepared to succeed in a competitive world
• A world with plenty with plenty of
opportunities for highly skilled individuals
and limited options for everyone else.
• Its about maximizing the impact of
technology to develop proficiency in 21st
century skills, support teaching and create
robust education support system.
• However, despite learning about the skills
that students will need to develop to
become successful in the 21st century,
• as well as what beliefs about education
may be worth hanging onto or throwing
away,
• schools and teachers are left trying to
figure out what their role needs to be in
the education of their 21st century
students.
• We transmit our values and cultures
without the expectation of them being
adopted by our audience- just accepted
by them.
• In order to prepare students to play their
role in the 21st century society we are a
part of, the following can be considered
when deciding how education will look in
our schools and classrooms.
 While student-centered learning is strongly
encouraged in the 21st century,
This does not done not mean that the teacher
can never give a lecture again.
In order to contribute to society, students will
need to be able to acquire new information as
problem arise.
Different learning styles are encouraged, and
students have an enhanced sense of motivation
and responsibility.
Like demonstrate learning in many different
ways.
Students must learn how to collaborate
with others.
Students should encouraged to work
together to discover information, piece it
together, and construct meaning.
Collaboration should be dynamic.
Students should learn how to recognize
the different strengths and talents each
person can bring to a project.
Student centered does not mean that the
teacher gives up all control of the
classroom.
The teacher can make a point of helping
students to understand how the skills they
are building can be applied in their lives.
Lessons have little purpose if they do not
have any impact in a student’s life outside
of the school.
Technology is a tool, a way for fact-
based learning and allows students to do
a lot of the research using the internet and
various tools.
And at the same time these students are
learning very valuable research skills,
which they can transplant at high levels of
education. At universities and beyond.
• 1. Technology allows for 24/7 access to information
• 2. Constant social interaction, and
• 3. Easily created and shared digital content.
If this is the case, it is necessary to embrace this highly
motivational interest and embed it in our teaching.
Teachers will begin to utilize technology to better
meet the needs and interest of students though
technology application and instruction.
• 1. Use technology comprehensively to
develop proficiency in 21st century skills.
Even if all students mastered core academic
subjects, they still would be woefully
underprepared to succeed in postsecondary
institutions and work place, which increasingly
value people who can use their knowledge to
communicate, collaborate, analyze, create,
innovate and solve problem.
• 2. Use technology comprehensively
to support innovative teaching and
learning.
to keep pace with a changing world,
schools need to offer more rigorous,
relevant and engaging opportunities
for students to learn- and to apply
their knowledge and skills in
meaningful ways.

classrooms, teachers and
administrators need training, tools and
proficiency in 21st century skills
themselves.

It tries to find out the different variables of teaching, their
interlinks effects upon each other, relationships, theories of
teaching, phases of teaching principles of teaching, maxims of
teaching etc.
2. Analysis of the Teaching-Learning
Process
 It tries to find out the variables of
teaching their interlinks effects upon
each other, relationship etc.
• 3. Improvement of Learning
It takes the help of various
empirically established
generalizations from psychology,
sociology, physical sciences,
engineering etc.
• 4.Enhancing Goals of Education
• Educational Technology helps in
enhancing the right objectives in
the light of the changed
circumstances and changed
environment.
•5. Training to teachers
• The changed type of environment with new curriculum and new
materials is to be handled by the teachers.
• Right type of training to the teachers is the need of the hour
• Educational Technology can render its valuable help in the
training of teachers also.
• 6. Development of Curriculum
• Curriculum is the total teaching-learning
environment, which has to be modified
and remodeled in he light of latest
thoughts.
• Educational Technology can do this job of
developing a suitable curriculum
appropriately.
• 7. Development of Teaching-Learning
Materials
• Teaching-learning materials are also as
important as anything else in the teaching-
learning process.
• They have to be in accordance with the
environment of the learners.
• 8.Teaching-Learning Strategies:
• A strategy plays an important role in the
hands of a teacher in every teaching-
learning situation.
• The strategy has to be the right one, which
should be according to the materials and
is able to bring about effective teaching
learning.
• 9. Development of Audio-Visual Aids:
• Audio-Visual aids have always played an
important role in the teaching-learning
process.
• The software aids, the hardware aids, the
computer and other appliances, equipment
etc., have “to be used in the present type
of teaching-learning environment.
• 10. Help in Overall Improvements:
Educational Technology helps in
locating the problems I different
areas of education.
Thus, educational technology can
revolutionize the whole process of
teaching learning.
• 11. Identification of Needs of
the Community:
Educational Technology identifies the needs of
the community. It helps in providing equal
education opportunities to backward people,
disadvantaged students needs of the community
from time to time.
Then it tries to improve the community in every
possible way.

Roles and functions of educational technology in the 21st century learners

  • 2. • The term “21st century” has become the central part of educational thinking and planning for the future. • Administrators and Teachers are actively searching for ways to prepare students for the future, and the educational system has been evolving faster than ever before. • Creating a 21st century educational system is about making sure that all students are prepared to succeed in a competitive world
  • 3. • A world with plenty with plenty of opportunities for highly skilled individuals and limited options for everyone else. • Its about maximizing the impact of technology to develop proficiency in 21st century skills, support teaching and create robust education support system.
  • 4. • However, despite learning about the skills that students will need to develop to become successful in the 21st century, • as well as what beliefs about education may be worth hanging onto or throwing away, • schools and teachers are left trying to figure out what their role needs to be in the education of their 21st century students.
  • 5. • We transmit our values and cultures without the expectation of them being adopted by our audience- just accepted by them. • In order to prepare students to play their role in the 21st century society we are a part of, the following can be considered when deciding how education will look in our schools and classrooms.

  • 7.  While student-centered learning is strongly encouraged in the 21st century, This does not done not mean that the teacher can never give a lecture again. In order to contribute to society, students will need to be able to acquire new information as problem arise. Different learning styles are encouraged, and students have an enhanced sense of motivation and responsibility. Like demonstrate learning in many different ways.

  • 9. Students must learn how to collaborate with others. Students should encouraged to work together to discover information, piece it together, and construct meaning. Collaboration should be dynamic. Students should learn how to recognize the different strengths and talents each person can bring to a project.

  • 11. Student centered does not mean that the teacher gives up all control of the classroom. The teacher can make a point of helping students to understand how the skills they are building can be applied in their lives. Lessons have little purpose if they do not have any impact in a student’s life outside of the school.
  • 12. Technology is a tool, a way for fact- based learning and allows students to do a lot of the research using the internet and various tools. And at the same time these students are learning very valuable research skills, which they can transplant at high levels of education. At universities and beyond.
  • 13. • 1. Technology allows for 24/7 access to information • 2. Constant social interaction, and • 3. Easily created and shared digital content. If this is the case, it is necessary to embrace this highly motivational interest and embed it in our teaching. Teachers will begin to utilize technology to better meet the needs and interest of students though technology application and instruction.

Use technology comprehensively to develop proficiency in 21st century skills. Even if all students mastered core academic subjects, they still would be woefully underprepared to succeed in postsecondary institutions and work place, which increasingly value people who can use their knowledge to communicate, collaborate, analyze, create, innovate and solve problem.
  • 15. • 2. Use technology comprehensively to support innovative teaching and learning. to keep pace with a changing world, schools need to offer more rigorous, relevant and engaging opportunities for students to learn- and to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways.
  • 16. • 3. Use technology comprehensively to create robust education support systems.  To be effective in schools and classrooms, teachers and administrators need training, tools and proficiency in 21st century skills themselves.

  • 18. • 1. Improvement of Teaching It tries to find out the different variables of teaching, their interlinks effects upon each other, relationships, theories of teaching, phases of teaching principles of teaching, maxims of teaching etc.
  • 19. 2. Analysis of the Teaching-Learning Process  It tries to find out the variables of teaching their interlinks effects upon each other, relationship etc.
  • 20. • 3. Improvement of Learning It takes the help of various empirically established generalizations from psychology, sociology, physical sciences, engineering etc.
  • 21. • 4.Enhancing Goals of Education • Educational Technology helps in enhancing the right objectives in the light of the changed circumstances and changed environment.
  • 22. •5. Training to teachers • The changed type of environment with new curriculum and new materials is to be handled by the teachers. • Right type of training to the teachers is the need of the hour • Educational Technology can render its valuable help in the training of teachers also.
  • 23. • 6. Development of Curriculum • Curriculum is the total teaching-learning environment, which has to be modified and remodeled in he light of latest thoughts. • Educational Technology can do this job of developing a suitable curriculum appropriately.
  • 24. • 7. Development of Teaching-Learning Materials • Teaching-learning materials are also as important as anything else in the teaching- learning process. • They have to be in accordance with the environment of the learners.
  • 25. • 8.Teaching-Learning Strategies: • A strategy plays an important role in the hands of a teacher in every teaching- learning situation. • The strategy has to be the right one, which should be according to the materials and is able to bring about effective teaching learning.
  • 26. • 9. Development of Audio-Visual Aids: • Audio-Visual aids have always played an important role in the teaching-learning process. • The software aids, the hardware aids, the computer and other appliances, equipment etc., have “to be used in the present type of teaching-learning environment.
  • 27. • 10. Help in Overall Improvements: Educational Technology helps in locating the problems I different areas of education. Thus, educational technology can revolutionize the whole process of teaching learning.
  • 28. • 11. Identification of Needs of the Community: Educational Technology identifies the needs of the community. It helps in providing equal education opportunities to backward people, disadvantaged students needs of the community from time to time. Then it tries to improve the community in every possible way.
