...but thinking and trying we succeeded!
The first solution, the first smile...
... We found several solutions!


Conclusions: It was interesting and fun!
Observations:

     If the sum of each edge is equal to 9, the first three numbers 1,2,3 are placed in
    circles and the others 4,5,6 are in squares.
     If the sum of each edge is equal to 10, the first odd numbers 1,3,5 are placed in
    circles and the even numbers 2,4,6 are placed in squares.
     If the sum of each edge is equal to 11, the first odd numbers 1,3,5 are placed in
    squares and the even numbers 2,4,6 are placed in circles.
     If the sum of each edge is equal to 12, the first three numbers 1,2,3 are placed in
    squares and the others 4,5,6 are in circles.
