Strengthening the downtown core More than 1,400 UOIT students to be located in downtown Oshawa in September 2010 New building, renovations and historic recovery Downtown campus playing a key role in revitalizing the urban core
Phase 1 – Faculty of Education 11 Simcoe St. North opened Sept. 2008 15 Year Lease / 37,000 sq. ft. / 5 floors 320  BEd and 25-50 MEd students projected for Sept 2010 Hi-tech, reconfigurable classrooms, library, student lounge/cafeteria, administrative space, research labs
Phase 2 – Regent Theatre Acquired through private donation in November 2009 To be used as a lecture hall and performing arts venue beginning September 2010 Next phase of renovations to include upgraded lighting, sound system, IT infrastructure, stage reconfiguration, extensive cosmetic improvements
Phase 2 – 55 Bond Street East New home of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Studies 30,000 sq. ft, / 5 floors 20 Year Lease / 50% Equity Stake 1100-1200 BA and 30 MA students projected for September 2010 Hi-tech classrooms, student lounge, administrative space, UOIT Boardroom, support space for Regent Theatre
Phase 2 – Victoria Street Urban Park To be used as outdoor gathering space, farmers’ market, outdoor performances (stage area), other UOIT and community events Links “Regent Square” to Hotel Genosha psychology labs 55 Bond St.E stage Regent Theatre
Phase 2 – 61 Charles Street Multi-purpose building (87,000 sq. ft.) Ready for occupancy September 2010 30 Year Lease / 100% Equity Stake Hi-tech classrooms, extensive student study space, student services, research space, small café, 106 parking stalls 3rd floor to remain “shelled” for future expansion (ideal for classrooms)
Phase 2 – Hotel Genosha Basement area (approx. 5,400 sq. ft) 4 psychology research labs Anticipated occupancy September 2010 Student residences ready in May 2011
