OpenStack “Liberty,” due for imminent release, represents the 12th release of the open source computing platform for public and private clouds. Recent OpenStack releases have focused on improving stability and enhancing the operator experience. This is still the case with Liberty, but there are still new features to consider. Join Sean Cohen and Steve Gordon to review notable features of this new OpenStack release, including: Network quality of service (QoS) support via a new extensible API for dynamically defining per-port and per-network QoS policies. Mark host down API enhancement in support of external high-availability solutions, including pacemaker, providing resilient instances in the event of compute node failure. Enhanced Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) support including dashboard integration, Ipsilon, and OpenID Connect support. Role-based access control (RBAC) for networks, providing fine-grained permissions for sharing networks between tenants. Dashboard support for database-as-a-service (Trove), subnet allocation, floating IP assignment, and volume migration. Generic volume migration—adding the ability to migrate workloads from iSCSI to non-iSCSI back ends. New Cinder replication API to allow block level replication between back ends. Nondisruptive backup to allow backup while the volume is still attached, by performing backup from a temporary attached snapshot. New Image signing and encryption to guarantee integrity by supporting signing and signature validation of bootable images. In addition we’ll discuss the state of emerging projects including Manila and Zaqar.

YouTube Recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCdqOxD5G0M Whether you are a newbie to OpenStack looking at building your first cloud or an experienced operator with years of OpenStack success behind you, you've probably spent some time wondering what to expect from the OpenStack project over the next several releases. Will it finally support that new capability you've been waiting for? Should you plan for an upgrade in the next 6 months? While the development community is always working and planning new features, its takes a lot of time on IRC to get a complete view across the different projects. The OpenStack Product WG spent time this cycle working with the project teams and PTLs to understand their priorities for the next several OpenStack releases. Where we have always had an understanding of what's to come in the next release, we're hoping to present a long-term view of the future landscape of OpenStack. In this session, we'll present our findings across the different projects in an effort to give users a glimpse into the OpenStack roadmap

This presentation explores the latest release of OpenStack (OpenStack Mitaka) and shares highlights from the OpenStack Summit held April 25-29, 2016 in Austin, TX. OpenStack is a free and open-source software platform for building and managing cloud computing platforms for public and private clouds, mostly deployed as an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). The software platform consists of interrelated components that control hardware pools of processing, storage, and networking resources throughout a data center. OpenStack works with popular enterprise and open source technologies making it ideal for heterogeneous infrastructure.

Watcher is an open source software package which provides a flexible and scalable resource optimization service for multi-tenant OpenStack-based clouds. Watcher provides a complete optimization loop—including everything from a metrics receiver, optimization processor and an action plan applier. This provides a robust framework to realize a wide range of cloud optimization goals, including the reduction of data center operating costs, increased system performance via intelligent virtual machine migration, increased energy efficiency, etc. The overall goal is that OpenStack-based clouds equipped with Watcher will decrease their Total Cost of Ownership by way of more efficient use of their infrastructure through targeted optimizations and close-loop automation. In this presentation we will go over the state of Watcher as it is today, its architecture, the team’s accomplishments for the Mitaka release and our plans for the N-release and beyond.

OpenStack is an open source cloud computing project that is implemented predominantly in Python. OpenStack’s goal is to provide the "ubiquitous open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds”. The OpenStack project was launched by Rackspace and NASA in July 2010. Since then the project has gained considerable momentum with over 200 companies joining the project, and the launch of commercial services and products that use OpenStack. The OpenStack Horizon project provides a web-based User Interface to OpenStack services. It is constructed in two parts: (1) a core set of libraries for implementing a Dashboard; (2) a reference dashboard implementation that uses the core set of libraries. Customization is a core part of the Horizon Framework. The framework enables developers to construct their own dashboards, panel groups and panels, and enables them to assemble them together via a common navigation/presentation framework. In this presentation, we will provide a brief introduction to OpenStack and Horizon. Then we will dive into the details of Horizon. We will review Horizon’s overall architecture and how it integrates with other OpenStack services. We will look at some of Horizon’s interesting features and describe how to get started developing with Horizon. Finally, we will discuss some of the current challenges facing Horizon and some future directions.

The story of “do it the way Google does it” is proving just as tough to monetize with enterprises as commodity cloud was. Boris will talk about OpenStack as a “safe harbor” from the coming container shakeout, leveraging the project’s maturity as a place to try various container strategies until the winner emerges. Lachlan Evenson of Lithium will join Boris to share how Lithium deployed Kubernetes on OpenStack.

Keynote by James Staten, Chief Strategist of the Cloud + Enterprise division of Microsoft, at OpenStack Silicon Valley 2015. Clinton campaign manager James Carville reminded his team often that driving change came through winning the hearts and minds of the people and where government affects them the most: “It’s the economy, stupid.” In helping enterprises make the shift to cloud, the biggest issue isn’t the technology but the process change organizations have to go through that determine success. In this session, James Staten, chief strategist for the Microsoft Cloud+Enterprise division, and former lead cloud analyst at Forrester Research will share his findings and recommendations for helping enterprise organizations, particularly IT Orgs, successfully navigate a change to the cloud.

The presentation explores the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) from its inception to its current status in the modern world. The term "artificial intelligence" was first coined by John McCarthy in 1956 to describe efforts to develop computer programs capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. This concept was first introduced at a conference held at Dartmouth College, where programs demonstrated capabilities such as playing chess, proving theorems, and interpreting texts. In the early stages, Alan Turing contributed to the field by defining intelligence as the ability of a being to respond to certain questions intelligently, proposing what is now known as the Turing Test to evaluate the presence of intelligent behavior in machines. As the decades progressed, AI evolved significantly. The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. The 1990s and 2000s saw further advances in algorithms and computational power, which allowed for more sophisticated data analysis techniques, including data mining. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream. Notable milestones included the success of Google's AlphaGo and advancements in autonomous vehicles by companies like Tesla and Waymo. A major theme of the presentation is the application of generative AI, which has been used for tasks such as natural language text generation, translation, and question answering. Generative AI uses large datasets to train models that can then produce new, coherent pieces of text or other media. The presentation also discusses the ethical implications and the need for regulation in AI, highlighting issues such as privacy, bias, and the potential for misuse. These concerns have prompted calls for comprehensive regulations to ensure the safe and equitable use of AI technologies. Artificial intelligence has also played a significant role in healthcare, particularly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it was used in drug discovery, vaccine development, and analyzing the spread of the virus. The capabilities of AI in healthcare are vast, ranging from medical diagnostics to personalized medicine, demonstrating the technology's potential to revolutionize fields beyond just technical or consumer applications. In conclusion, AI continues to be a rapidly evolving field with significant implications for various aspects of society. The development from theoretical concepts to real-world applications illustrates both the potential benefits and the challenges that come with integrating advanced technologies into everyday life. The ongoing discussion about AI ethics and regulation underscores the importance of managing these technologies responsibly to maximize their their benefits while minimizing potential harms.

With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience Conclusion When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.
