You should already have a Pinterest account. If not make
sure you create one this week and begin to follow
Beaumont Art Pinterest. Create an album of ideas for your
Personal Study. This is going to be extremely useful for
helping you with creative ideas and finding original,
relevant artists for your chosen topic.
3. The purpose of your Personal Study is
to teach you something: to help you
develop as an artist and to strengthen
your understanding of art-related
issues. You will be creating Art work
around your chosen topic as well as
an essay. The most successful
Personal Studies communicate ‘a
strong sense of involvement through
personal enthusiasm and a
commitment to sustain the
investigation’. So basically make sure
you choose a topic you are interested
in!
4. Your first task is to decide what you want your topic to be.
It can be fairly broad to begin with so don’t panic! Tasks…
1. Look on the Student Guide website link below and read
‘Art Project ideas: a guide to subject matter selection’ .
Create a brain storm of ideas

ideas
2. Create a Pinterest album and pin any pins of subjects
matter and media that you may want to consider for your
year 13 project
3. Create two double page moodboards on power point to
go in your NEW sketchbook on your chosen theme. The
first moodboard should be a general one on your chosen
theme. The second should be narrowed down and explain
your direction and concept for your project. 22nd May
5. To gain high marks you need to clearly explain
your theme and the concept you want to
explore within this theme. After producing a
broad moodboard on your theme your second
double page should be explaining the
direction you are planning to go in for your
project. This might change a little as your
explore your theme so don’t worry!
For this double page use the writing grid to
support your concept explanation. Then add
relevant images to the page.
6. 1. Why have your chosen your theme? What do
you find interesting about this chosen topic?
2. What specific area of this theme do you want
to explore?
3. What photographs will you take to support
this project? (do you need to plan a trip
somewhere, use the school photographic
studio?)
4. What Art work would you like to create from
your chosen theme?
