1) The author has broken up with design sprints after finding they consistently did not achieve the level of creative output or lasting impact intended.
2) Key realizations include that stakeholders need to understand customer needs, behaviors, and culture more than a solution method, and that ideas need testing with permission to fail and continued development.
3) Many methods intended to promote clearer thinking can become substituted for thinking itself, so the focus should be on designing not just the sprint method. Ensuring the right organizational culture and goals is more important than any specific method.

Britain's Andy Murray made his
earliest Grand Slam exit of the year as
Japan's Kei Nishikori fought back to
win their US Open quarter-final in five
sets.
Murray, seeded second, led by two
sets to one but eventually lost 1-6 6-4
4-6 6-1 7-5 in three hours 57 minutes.
The Wimbledon champion lost his
rhythm after rain brought the roof
across, then his cool when the
stadium sound system interrupted a
break point.
"It was too exciting on the court, but I
tried to stay calm," said Nishikori.
Sixth seed Nishikori, the 2014 runner-
up in New York, goes on to face Stan
Wawrinka who beat Juan Martin del
Potro 7-6 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Design sprint
“Start by taking a step back from the problem to discover, diverge and
explore the full ecosystem, and then start to converge on a focusing
question or design brief, which will guide the rest of the sprint.”

My Realisation
You can’t transform an organisation by focussing on a
method. Stakeholders, decision makers, board
members need understand the needs, behaviours and
cultural practices of their audience more than they
need to see the validity of a solution.
27. 02.
My Realisation
Ideas need to be lived with and people need
permission to fail. For sprints to be useful there needs
to be a culture of experimentation and a programme
of continued customer development.
30. 03.
My Realisation
Many methods start out as legitimate tools to
promote better, clearer thinking faster and end up as
activities substituted for thinking*. Ensure you are
clear on why you are doing it, and make sure you are
selling design, not design sprints.

31. Is our company/client is focussed on behaviours and
culture practices of its customers
Do we/them have permission to fail and to experiment
Is there a programme of ongoing customer
development
Are we selling design, not design sprints
32. I believe design sprints can help solve hard problems.
I also believe that design sprints can appeal to people
who are looking for a silver bullet
I suggest starting from a set of goals, rather than a
specific method, no matter how appealing it sounds.
But
So
