Review Checklist for Quantitative Research Study
A. Preliminaries
1. Title
a. It is simple, brief and attractive.
b. It is accurately reflects the problem of the study.
c. it is condenses the contents in a few words, ideally with not more
than 20 words.
2. Abstract
a. It focuses on what the study is all about usually in a paragraph of
300 words or less.
b. It concludes the major aspects of the study such as: overall purposes of
the study; the research problems, the research design, the major findings and a
brief summary of interpretations and conclusions.

1. Introductory paragraph
◦A. The introductory paragraph catches the attention of the reader.
◦B. It contains a brief discussion of previous works.
◦C. It points out the issues to be addressed in the current work.
◦D. The rationale on the choice of the study is fully discussed.
◦E. it discusses why the research problem has as important social concern.
◦F. The last paragraph reflects an overview of what the chapter will present.

sampling design and period of study.
2. It presents a summary of the major findings of the study.
3. The conclusions are based on the findings of the study.
4. The conclusions are clear and written in simple language.
5. The acceptance or rejection of a hypothesis is stated as a conclusion.
6. The recommendations are logical and flow from the conclusions.
7. The recommendations are relevant, doable and relevant.

Writing Style and Composition
1. The research proposal is written in the future tense.
2. The proposal and the whole research project are written in
the third person.

the document.

  • 2. Review Checklist for Quantitative Research Study A. Preliminaries 1. Title a. It is simple, brief and attractive. b. It focuses on what the study is all about usually in a paragraph of 300 words or less. b. It presents a summary of the major findings of the study. 3. The conclusions are based on the findings of the study. 4. The conclusions are clear and written in simple language. 5. The acceptance or rejection of a hypothesis is stated as a conclusion. 6. The recommendations are logical and flow from the conclusions. 7. The recommendations are relevant, doable and relevant.
  • 19. CHAPTER 5 SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Writing Style and Composition 1. The research proposal is written in the future tense. 2. The proposal and the whole research project are written in the third person. 3. Proposal & research project are written in the past tense when quoting from a source. 4. 4. Analysis of tables presented should be in present tense.
  • 20. CHAPTER 5 SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Writing Style and Composition 5. Grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and spelling should be correct. 6. Sentences should be clear, precise and not redundant. 7. Topical sentences should be used to introduced sections and paragraphs. 8. Contents of sections should be related to other sections and should support the topical sentences.
  • 21. CHAPTER 5 SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Writing Style and Composition 9. Flow of words should be smooth and comprehensible. There should be a logical flow of ideas between sections with smooth transition between paragraph, topics, sections and chapters. 10. The research study should present/cite references in developing the research problem rather than relying on the learner’s personal opinion. 11. The researcher’s ideas should be clear and consistent throughout the document.
