I just came from participating in a special training seminar put on by the Supreme Board
of Directors in Dallas, Texas. During the seminar I was informed of a new program for
Knights of Columbus who deal with the Youth groups and activities of the order. This new
program will provide training and certification for all adult members who work with
children. The new program will be introduced this coming fraternal year and is expected
to provide an additional level of security to the programs already in place by Catholic
Dioceses. This new program will not replace anything offered by the diocese but will be
an added service meant to enhance the level of training of individuals.
As we begin the new fraternal year one of the best things that we can do as a council is to
create a business plan for the year with the goal of achieving the “Star Council
Recognition”. The Star, Double Star or Triple Star recognition says to the parish
community in which the council belongs that we are doing our job fully and well, that we
are contributing to the values and precepts of the Church and contributing to the good of
the community in which we are located. I hope that we will consider this program as part
of our goals for the 2014-2015 Fraternal Year.
We welcome the new members just recently joining our council and look forward to their
participation in the many programs and services offered by the Knights of Columbus.
Remember that purchasing one of our insurance products during your first year of
membership (even a $100 Annuity) qualifies you as an “Insurance Member” and helps the
council towards achieving the McGivney Award which is part of the requirements for Star
Council. Associate members in the order longer than one year can also take advantage
of many low cost financial products which then qualify them for Insurance Member status.
Remember August 5-7 will be the Supreme Convention in Orlando, there is still time to

register to attend this very special event. Hotel rooms can be found in the Orlando area
for as little as $45.00 per night. If you are a member of the Color Corp of the 4th Degree
you have an opportunity to march in the grand opening procession and get a firsthand
view of all the Cardinals, Bishops, Priests and Religious as well as the Supreme Knight
and Supreme Officers. If you are interested visit: www.2014floridakofc.org and

LTC Is an Important Piece of
the Puzzle
There are many financial consultants and
retirement authorities who emphasize the
need for a long-term care (LTC) product

Dear Brother Knights,
On Tuesday, June 24, we celebrated the

need for a long-term care (LTC) product
for estate preservation and family
protection. While many commercial life
insurance companies have gotten out of
the long-term care business, the Knights
of Columbus considers LTC a very
important piece of the family protection
puzzle. The Order has been actively
offering our members this product for
nearly 15 years without a premium
increase on current policyholders.
Members who wisely purchased an LTC
plan from the Knights in 2000 are still
paying the same premiums today. Even
better, our LTC coverage is backed by
the full strength of the Order, which
remains rooted in our strong Catholic
values. Talk about stability when it
counts.
If we have not spoken about your need
for LTC coverage in your family
portfolio, please take some time out of
your schedule to meet with me.
Remember, long-term care policies are
the Baptist. His birth was miraculous. That
was evidenced by his parents
who were in an advanced age at the time
of his conception. His father,
Zechariah was struck mute when he
demanded a sign from the angel who
informed him at the Temple that his wife,
Elizabeth, would have a child
in the coming year. And, when he signed
the name John for his newborn
son, he regained his speech. In the
Gospel of Luke for this celebration
it says, "For surely the hand of the Lord
was with him."
Salvation History bears this out as the life
of John the Baptist unfolds. People even
thought that he was the promised Savior.
However, he denied that, but he did point
to Jesus as the Promised Savior on the
bank of the Jordan River with the words,
"Behold the lamb of God, behold him who
takes away the sins of the world." His
exhorted the people to repent from the
sins and believe in the Good News. His
motto was that he may decrease and
Jesus may increase.

Jesus may increase.
My Brother Knights, let us pray for the
grace to do the same. If we do it, we will
repent of our sins and like, John the
Baptist, we will lead others to Jesus, too.
