COMPANY
PRESENTATION
In the very centre of Europe, Tecna is
situated in the prestigious scientific park of
Area Science Park, Trieste.
The Consortium that manages and promotes the Area Scientific Research and
Technology of Trieste has been noted by MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and
Research) in 2005, as first degree National Public Research Body and as reference point
of technology transfer for Italy.
Area Science Park is the eldest scientific park in Italy. It hosts around 90
companies for an overall amount of 2,400 scientists.
In Area Science Park, Tecna has modern laboratories for R&D and kit
production, warehouses and offices.
In the beginning, the main activity was focused on methods for the detection of
drug residues in food. Since 2000, the company has been developing a wide range
of test kits for the detection of mycotoxins, while in the last few years the R&D team
started developing diagnostic screening tools for allergens.
Tecna has more than 20 years of experience in the food diagnostic field
and is a major player in its domestic market.
Evolution of technologies that have been
adopted to fulfil different analytical needs.

Avoiding the calibration, it is
possible to spend 4 wells for the
analysis of 3 samples. One 96 wells

APPLICABILITY
ELISA VALIDATION
Kits for drug residues have been
validated according to EU 657/2002 EU
in order to set the proper CCβ, to verify
the precision and specificity and to
verify the assay robustness.
Until 2014 no guidelines were available for
mycotoxins screening tools. A validation
protocol has always been implemented in
order to study the matrix effect, the sensitivity
(LOQ), the accuracy, the precision and the
robustness of the assay.
Although the 519/2014 EU is a step forward, it has
not been considered that end-users expect the
screening kits to be quantitative.
