2. Cover Page
• I chose the name Quaint for my magazine
because it means;
“attractively unusual or old-fashioned”
• This relates to the theme of my magazine as all the images are old
fashioned, timeless and classic, yet attractive and unusual so it
catches peoples attention.
• Hence the reason I went for a black and white theme and it is quite
vintage and at the same time with the element of red as well as the
contrasting colours in adds a burst of energy and vibrancy so it
doesn't just simply follow the typical connotations of a newspaper.
• I chose to use a close up shot so the models face for my main
image, so she is the complete focus of the front cover and the
information etc is all secondary.
• I chose to make my magazine genre; Indie Pop. This is because the
vintage style of it due to the black and white yet distressed photo’s,
but, I added the element of pop also as my style and musical icon is
Lana Del Rey and she dabbles with both Indie and Pop music.

4. Contents Page
• For my contents page I followed and kept the same
theme as my cover page as I wish this to run through my
entire magazine.
• My background is still charcoal colour on the left hand
side of the Polaroid's, and the background is white on
the right hand side of the Polaroid's. The masthead is
also a charcoal colour with a hint of red through it, and
apart from the page numbers that is the only bit of red on
the page.
• I chose to present the images on my contents page
through a series of Polaroid like images (about 6) to act
as a barrier to break the page into two so the image can
be split; one side showing the information in the
particular issue of the magazine and the other showing
what is featured over and over again/reoccurrences.

6. Double Page Spread
• On my double page spread I made it slightly different to what I’ve
done on the cover and contents pages.
• I made the right hand page have a black vintage floral background
with the interview from the artist in the 4 white boxes which are
jaggedly presented on the page, with the title of the article also
presented in a white box, but a thinner one.
• I made the left hand side of the page have a charcoal coloured
background but this wont be seen much as the I plan for the image
to take up the entire page. It’ll have one box on it, looking like it is
stuck down with uneven transparent black and white spotted cello-tape.
• I chose the layout to be like this to make it quirky and stray away
from the normal connotations of a magazine (DPS), to make mine
more unique.
• I chose my headline ‘Up and Coming artist hits hard’ because it
indicated that the artist is only starting out but has already made an
incredible impact on the music industry and will continue to do so as
well.
