- Intro: talk about traditional learning methods. Open with an anecdote about using chalk boards in elementary school
- Change slides and talk about we went from chalk boards to calculator. Transition to rest of intro
- Transition again to the first kinds of computers – only used for various things
- Fourth part of intro – now almost everything in our school is run by technology (i.e. Smart Boards)
- Motivation for project: I make web sites and I think it’s interesting that I learned how to do that in school one example of how technology has changed learning
- Evidence #1: death of handwriting – explain how it isn’t emphasized as heavily
- Typing and word processing has replaced handwritten assignments in most cases – go on to explain how this is significant
- Transition into thesis: explain that my experience in web design led me to wonder how computers and other types of technology have revolutionized schooling. Use this quote as emphasis. Link to video clip (3:48-5:07)
- Decline of teachers actually doing the teaching – they’ll become more like a teacher’s assistant as opposed to the actual instructor of the class (if education becomes even more technology-enhanced)
- Discuss the money issue: expensive to buy and to train teachers to understand the technology – “digital divide”

- Explain the process and how it went
- Points to reiterate: Development of tech in schools Pros: makes for a more enthusiastic learning environment, motivates students, etc. Cons: digital divide, money issue, etc.
- Concluding slide: wrap up w/ emphasis on money and how it will determine technology’s role in education
