Puerto Rico is mainly mountainous with many short rivers and lakes. The official language is Spanish although English is also spoken. Most inhabitants are Roman Catholic and of Spanish descent. The tropical climate remains warm year-round with little seasonal variation in temperature. Puerto Rico's economy uses the US dollar and relies on mineral resources, agriculture, and tourism. The government is a commonwealth of the United States with Spanish and English as the official languages.
