  3. 3. Emotional Appeal  Based on human emotion  Feelings often influence emotions  Use personal stories to persuade others
  4. 4. Persuasion based on emotions  By expressing your emotions you are attempting to influence others. Emotional persuasion can also be done by trying to invoke an emotional reaction from listeners. In either case you are hoping to persuade others through their feelings or emotions.
  5. 5. •Spotlight the benefits of following you •Present in an extremely positive light •Persuade against any opposing arguments
  6. 6. Persuasion based on benefits  Through the benefits persuasion it is important to highlight all the positives that will be gained. Do so in a positive light so as to enlighten the individual and to help them see the benefits that are possible.
  7. 7. Logical Appeal  Appeal to the sense of reason  Appearance should be that it is most rational  Makes other appear irrational or with no common sense
  8. 8. Persuasion based on logic  When using logic you most often cite facts and statistics. A person might also cite certain authorities on a subject. Constructing logical arguments is key when attempting to persuade someone using logic.
  9. 9. Character Appeal  Must appear worthy in the eyes of others  Must appear trustworthy, honest, and intelligent  Will often result in gaining credibility
  10. 10. Persuasion based on character  This type of argument can be developed by choosing language that is appropriate for the audience and topic. Making yourself sound unbiased can also be quite important in this type of situation.
