2. GENERAL OF THE AMERICAN
ARMY, WINFIELD SCOTT….
• Winfield Scott led the u.s army and successfully sieged
Veracruz, and the following battles showing out
successful for the Americans.
• The Battle of Chapultepec was the final and successful
battle for the Americans, ended the war with the Treaty
of Hidalgo Guadalupe
• Mexico lost 1/3 of its territory including: California,
Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico.
3. MEXICO WOULD HAVE WON THE MEXICAN-
AMERICAN WAR
• The American Army under general Zachary Taylor was weakening after the Battle of
Monterrey
• If Winfield Scott would have died in battle at the Battle of Veracruz, without his
strategic plans the Americans would have begun losing afterwards.
• Would have become stronger and larger than the U.S.

5. MEXICO WOULD HAVE A BETTER
ECONOMY AFTER THE GOLD
RUSH
• California would have still been Mexican
territory
• so the Gold Rush would have made
Mexico wealthier, as it would rejuvenate
Mexico’s economy and its social growth.

6. SLAVERY WOULD HAVE BEEN
ABOLISHED EARLIER
• President Vicente Guerrero, Mexico’s first black
president, abolished slavery in 1829.
• Territory that Mexico owned in America; California,
Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, would not have
had slavery.

MEXICO WON THE WAR…
• Mexico would have a
much better economy and
less social problems than
it has today.
• Mexico could have
become a superpower
instead of the United
States
• People of Color would
have probably dominated
the world.
