My vision for E-Learning and my strategy to embed it in and out of school
Pupils should be digitally literate.
High quality ICT skills.
Transferable across IT systems and life in general - problem solvers, analysers etc
Critical of information and its sources.
Prepared for a life of many jobs and technologies, most of which don’t exist yet.
Informed of what they are doing, and of what traces they leave behind.
Developing in a realistic environment, not a complete walled garden.
Aware of what to do when something goes wrong.
Responsible in their use, careful of data and privacy and copyright.
Given a scaffolded environment in which to develop with a clear AUP.
ICT used when it’s appropriate, not just because it’s there.
Used when staff know it is the best tool for the job.
Bloom’s taxonomy - ICT ideal for higher order thinking skills: writing own wikipedia articles, collaborating on GDocs or wikis, creating podcasts & youtube videos.
Teachers well trained in their tools and willing to take risks.
Relevant to todays teenagers - Web2.0, social networking, gaming, mobiles.

A place of community, the first stop for students, staff, governors and the wider community.
All systems must be like child’s play to use. If not, users quickly become unwilling to spend precious time.
Our responsibility to make sure high uptime - liaising with suppliers & tech.
Strive for high speed internet access and vle response.
High quality access to resources and to the internet - managed filtering.
Intuitive and easy to use VLE.
With all of these we could have a centre for excellence.
