2. What is Nominalisation?
• Nominalisation is the formation of nouns from
adjectives, verbs and even other nouns.
3. The process involved in Nominalisation
• The process involved in nominalisation is
when a letter or a group of letters called
suffixes are added to the end of a word and
this automatically changes the status of the
word.
• Some examples of suffixes include –al, -ed, -er,
-ing, -or, -our, -tion, -sion and –ee.
4. What is an Affixation
• A group of letters added to words is referred
to generally as an affixation.
• The ones you add at the front of a word are
known as prefixes,
• While the ones added at the end of a word are
called suffixes.
6. • Another term for affixes (affixation) is bound
morphemes.
• Morphemes refers to words and ‘bound’
means they cannot stand alone.
7. Nominalisation of Adjectives
• This refers to the changing of adjectives into
nouns.
• Adjective is a word that works with a noun by
telling us more about the noun as in.

8. • Adjectives include words that denote size (big,
tiny), colour (red, black), origin (wooden,
Ghanaian), number (eight, twelve) and quality
(good, fine).
• Adjectives have comparative (-er) and
superlative (-est) forms too.
• There are also the irregular comparative and
superlative forms. These are adjectives that
take more and most, little and less.
