5 Steps to Creating Lasting Change in Your Home Time Management
I'll bet that getting your home time management under control is probably what you would consider to be your greatest mountain, right?
I beg to differ with you.
While making change is undeniably difficult, what's even more difficult is making that change last for any amount of time... much less permanently.
Home Time Management Step #1: Identify Major Problems
This is an absolute must and it must be done first. Make an honest list of all that needs changed in how you manage your time at home.
Home Time Management Step #2: Pinpoint What Changes You Want to Make
This is the fun part. Take those problems and turn them into solutions.
Home Time Management Step #3: Figure Out Which Solutions to Implement First
Some people can focus on more than one area at a time… the majority cannot. I'm going to strongly suggest you figure out which ONE of these areas you want to focus on first and then don't waver. Focus will get you results much quicker than multitasking. Pick the one area that'll make the most impact in your life.
Home Time Management Step #4: Create Your Action Plan
Now it becomes a little harder (but still doable) because you have to take into account your strengths and weaknesses along with your lifestyle. You have to really know yourself so you can set yourself up for success.
Home Time Management Step #5: Put Your Plan into Action
Nothing's going to change without action. Nothing! While you can set yourself up for success or for failure by all these steps this step is particularly important. It's really not hard and the results will be well worth all the effort when you have all those problem areas behind you.

management under control is probably what
you would consider to be your greatest
mountain, right?

3. While making change is undeniably
difficult, what's even more difficult is making that
change last for any amount of time... much less
permanently.

4. You know what I'm talking about… one week you
buckled down and planned meals using a weekly
meal plan and were amazed at how much
smoother the week ran, but the next week you
didn't repeat the process.
(c) Home Time Management 2013 | Mary Segers http://marysegers.com
5. And you spent the time to teach your daughter to
dust and vacuum and she did a great job for as long
as she was interested but after about a week, the
excitement wore off for her and she didn't want to
do it and you didn't feel like struggling with her.
So you finally and grudgingly put it back on your
own overflowing to-do list.

6. Sadly, you tend to stay in this cycle of making
change, needing to make change, making
change, needing to make change.
And life, meanwhile, is just miserable because
nothing ever permanently changes.

7. So is there a secret?
Are there specific steps you can take to create
lasting change?
(c) Home Time Management 2013 | Mary Segers http://marysegers.com
8. Yes there are and... even more important... unless
you follow those steps you're going to keep going
round and round in circles without ever seeing real
and lasting change in your life.
Think about it... steps go up or down, circles just go
round and round... kind of like a dog chasing his
tail.
Those steps are what will take you to a higher level.

9. These steps are:
***Identify Your Major Problems
***Pinpoint What Changes You Want to Make
***Figure Out Which Solution to Implement First
***Create Your Action Plan
***Put Your Plan into Action
Now, let's just lightly touch on each one.

10. Home Time Management Step #1:
Identify Major Problems
This is an absolute must and it must be done first.
Make an honest list of all that needs changed in how you manage your time at
home.
For instance, say you run out of ideas for dinner and really struggle with what
to fix night after night after night. You know this is a problem that, if solved,
would make your life so much easier and more enjoyable.
An honest assessment in this area will help set the blueprint which you'll then
work from.

11. Home Time Management Step #2:
Pinpoint What Changes You Want to Make
This is the fun part.
Take those problems and turn them into solutions.
For instance, the solution to the above problem would be to
prepare meals from a weekly meal plan.
(c) Home Time Management 2013 | Mary Segers http://marysegers.com
12. Home Time Management Step #3:
Figure Out Which Solutions to Implement First
Some people can focus on more than one area at a time… the majority cannot.
Since I don't know you I'm going to strongly suggest you figure out which ONE
of these areas you want to focus on first and then don't waver.
Focus will get you results much quicker than multitasking.
Pick the one area that'll make the most impact in your life.

13. Home Time Management Step #4:
Create Your Action Plan
Now it becomes a little harder (but still doable) because you have to
take into account your strengths and weaknesses along with your
lifestyle.
You have to really know yourself so you can set yourself up for
success.
Don't plan to fit housecleaning into a 6 a.m. time slot when you know
you aren't even going to be turning over much less up and ready for
action.

14. Home Time Management Step #5:
Put Your Plan into Action
Nothing's going to change without action.
Nothing!
While you can set yourself up for success or for failure by all these
steps this step is particularly important.
It's really not hard and the results will be well worth all the effort
when you have all those problem areas behind you.

15. Creating Lasting Change in Your
Home Time Management
… requires following the 5 steps.
And, I promise if you'll invest the time and effort to implement these steps you'll
experience success in any area you wish to change.
