2. Genesis and History In accordance with the Policy of the then Government, under the Privatization Program of State-owned Plantations, the Coconut Plantations managed by the J.E.D.B. – V (Janatha Estate Development Board – V), a section of which plantations were amalgamated and a Company was formed in the name of “Kurunegala Plantations Limited”, in the Year 1992. M/s Lake House Plantations (Pvt.) Ltd. , managed the company during the period June 1992 to 31st December 2004, consequent to the Privatization of State-owned State Plantation Company. The State/Government took over the Management of Kurunegala Plantations Ltd., with effect from 01st January 2005 and converted as a wholly-owned State Plantation Company. Subsequently, Kurunegala Plantations Ltd., was brought under the purview of the Ministry of Plantations Industries , Coconut Development Ministry and Ministry of Public Estate Management & Development in Succession, and it has, since been brought under the Ministry of Coconut Development and State Plantations Development.
3. Vision To be the model plantation and agri business management company in the South East Asian region.
4. Mission To manage the plantation and other agri businesses productively, profitably and sustainably through effectively harnessing natural, physical and human resources in an environment-friendly and socially responsible manner to the benefit of all stakeholders and the country at large.

19. Medical Allowances The company is offering a Medical Coverage of 150,000 Rs. For families of Executives. In addition to that they are paying Outdoor Medical Allowance of 10% from Executives Basic Salary. Also they pay a medical allowance for non- Executives. In addition to that company is offering Medical leaves. Employees who non clamming their Medical leaves will be paid.

22. Giving Scholarships The company is giving financial support when the Employees are doing higher education related to their field, up to 50,000 Rs. When a Child of Non-Executives enters to the University, Company is giving 15,000 Rs. Per year Up to 4 year. Overtime payments Whenever the Employee do Overtime the company pays for it. As government Approved.
