ThousandEyes Components
There are four component parts to pricing a ThousandEyes solution. Professional Services, which includes
customer onboarding, integration implementation, dashboard, reports and alert integration etc. is outside the
scope of this document. The other three are described in brief.
Enterprise & Cloud Agents
These software agents conduct ‘tests’ on a periodic basis against targets the customer relies upon (may or
may not be customer-owned). Tests generate synthetic network traffic designed to measure the well-being of
the target and the path to it. Each time a test is run ‘units’ are consumed. A customer purchases a monthly
test capacity expressed in units. Three things decide the total units one test consumes:
• Test Type: the more complex a test, the more units consumed
• Whether Cloud or Enterprise: a Cloud Agent consumes 2x the unit count compared to an Enterprise Agent
because ThousandEyes provides the cloud compute on which the test executes whereas with an
Enterprise Agent the customer does
• Frequency: units are consumed per test round, thus the more often a test runs, the more units consumed.

DNS Server
Record validation. Includes service performance metrics, path visualization, BGP route

DNS Trace Trace & verify DNS hierarchy delegations from each parent zone to child zone.
DNSSEC
Verify the digital signature of resource records and hence the authenticity of resource
records according to Domain Name System Security Extensions
HTTP Server
Measures the availability and performance of an HTTP service. Includes service
performance metrics, path visualization, BGP route monitoring.

Page Load
Measures in-browser site performance metrics, includes the completed page load time
and phase information for each DOM component. Also includes HTTP server test.

Emulates user interactions with a website. Able to track time to various phases and
take screenshots. Includes all HTTP Server test metrics.

EndPoint Agents
These agents are installed on an end-user’s PC or Apple Mac. The agent provides scheduled testing
capability for the Network or HTTP test outlined above (only). The agent also monitors the actual user’s
experience when visiting web apps defined in a ‘monitored domain list’. The agent will report on machine
health and wifi connectivity as well as the complete path to the app being used, and the performance of that
app.
• Each endpoint registering with ThousandEyes consumes one license instance
• The customer buys license instances in quantities of 100 with a minimum annual commitment
• Endpoint Agents may be moved between endpoints
• Endpoint Agents scheduled tests do not consume units, price is flat-rate for the agent instance
As of March ’21 the Cisco GPL list price is $14 / agent / month.
Internet Insights
Internet Insights provides Internet outage detection leveraging ThousandEyes’ real-time collective data set to
show customers where outages are occurring and the scope of the impact. This data augments, and
provides context to, the customer-defined tests.
Internet Insights consists of packages offered by provider type and geographic region. A customer typically
selects packages corresponding to a provider type they are interested in, and one or more geo’s they
operate in.
As of November ‘21 packages are sold in bundles as follows:
Cisco PIDs
The ThousandEyes component PIDs:
• TE-UNITS : consumed by cloud and enterprise tests.
• TE-USERS : Endpoint Agent for a user’s laptop. Sold in units of 100.
• TE-INSIGHTS : Per package price for Internet Insights.
