There is a long and proud history the food industry has a
long and proud history in New Zealand’s development

The country has always had bountiful resources and food
and beverage processing has evolved into a vibrant
industry sector

Food and beverage processing is one of the largest
industry sectors within the southern sector of
Auckland, New Zealand

There are over 5,460 people employed in the southern
sector of Auckland and over 73,000 in New Zealand
growing at a rate of 5% a year
Recommendation
 The recommendation for the GTA Food and Beverage cluster
 is to follow the three critical success factors and focus on
 reaching the ideal cluster:

         Strong skills base
         Innovation and R&D capacity
         Networks and Partnerships
Implementation
 Short-Term

 Create seminars about the food and beverage clusters to be
 presented in food and beverage specialty programs (I.e. George
 Brown College of Culinary Arts)  Establishes partnerships and
 innovation

 Create a booth and the Canadian Food and Beverage Show with
 resources such as innovation centers and centers of excellence

 Long-Term

 Acquire new financial resources

 Open more innovation centers and centers of excellence

 Implement a mandatory cluster course in the school curriculum

 Work towards food tourism
