role of uniting an industry under one
umbrella and representing its interests
to stakeholders in government, media,
the wider business community, and the
general public.

With nearly 8,000 trade
associations competing
for attention, it’s
increasingly important
for trade associations
to build relevance not
just for their industry
but for the complex
issues they advocate.
For more than 20 years, MWW has helped trade associations from a range of
industries devise and execute successful campaigns that help them matter
more to their stakeholders and influencers in media, government, the wider
business community, and society. These strategies include federal and state
advocacy, general awareness and public policy campaigns which employ
a variety of messaging platforms, including state and federal government
relations, public affairs, coalition building, marketing, advertising, media
relations, constituent outreach and crisis communications.
Specifically, MWW’s leading experts in public affairs, media relations, and digital
strategies offer the following services for trade associations:
MANAGEMENT
Often business members will look to their trade association to represent them
in the media regarding particularly controversial, industry-wide issues. MWW
helps in this strategic execution by developing well researched message points,
preparing and placing bylined articles, op-eds, and other media opportunities,
setting up media tours, editorial board meetings, and reporter interviews, and
providing spokesperson training. We also can and do serve as the association
spokesperson.
CONFERENCE PLANNING
MWW currently works with a number of associations to plan their annual
conferences. This includes: general session and workshop planning, securing
special guest keynote speakers, conference marketing and promotion, on-site
logistics and AV coordination, presentation development and speaker training.
We also handle all related on-site media relations activities.
GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY
Trade associations frequently support federal and/or state legislation that
will positively impact their membership. On their behalf, MWW implements
grassroots advocacy programs to advance their public policy agendas.
Activities include outreach to member companies and their supply networks
to solicit active support for the issue and rallying the support of employees
and customers. We then use these grassroots and grasstops advocates in a
number of ways, including media relations, rallies, petition and letter drives and
legislator meetings. MWW has also created and managed coalitions comprised
of trade association member companies and their employees, customers and
family members.
