My Attentive Observations

               BY
         Nadia Zaheem
    Co-Teacher at Generations
     School,Karachi,Pakistan
1.Dolmen Mall(store name)
Observations done in Dolmen Mall
A huge place to have fun around. Although it
was a festival holiday, most of the shops were
closed but the food court was open.2 pairs of
escallators,2 pairs of lifts and 3-4 stair cases
were making it possible for the crowd to reach
the food court at the top, smoothly.
• Combination of light yellow and greyish green
paints were used, with yellow and white ligths
making the whole area more bright.
• Street lamps on posts were mounted around
tables all over the place. Thus giving it an
outdoor touch. Even the tiles on the floor
were those that are used on footpaths and
  parks.
The outdoor style titles used in the
mall to create an outdoor feeling.
2.Juices Island (shop name)
• Juices island had a big lit lemon slice just
below the counter, like its shouting for “juice
  juice”.
• On a wall far away from “juices island” I saw
  attractive wall papers for publicity.
A publicity wall of a shop.
3.Chairman Mao(shop name)
Side wooden wall of Chairman Mao
A publicity poster of a shop opening
                soon
The ceiling had an attractive stylish
 design, with different color paints
giving it a more dramatic look.
The lights of the main hall had a
beautiful sequencing giving the whole
  atmosphere a sense of discipline.
3.Naheed Super Market(store name)
The Name of the store in the sign lettering was not
properly lit thus was unable to make an effective
                    impression
With a visible security the market had an automatic
                   opening door.
The ceiling was not quite high at some places in
Naheed super market, which at rush hours gives a
         congested feeling of the market
Low height of ceiling visible in this side of the
               super market.
Big blue electric box right above the meat
      shop wasn’t looking attractive
Opportunities and Suggestions(Naheed
            super market)
• I think if they improve the look of the store
from outside, giving it more attraction by
surrounding it with glaring lights, more
  customers will be attracted.
4.Zeritto Flowers(shop name)
• The sign board of this shop was quite
attractive as it had a cute font and bright
  lights.
• In Pakistan, the elite have a culture of giving
bouquets to their loved ones. This flower shop
is the only of its kind in this area with its sign
  board gaining the attention.
• The flower arrangements were also exquisite.
Due to security reasons the shop
keepers of all the individual shops were
not allowing to take snap shots.
Opportunities and suggestions(Zeritto
               Flowers)
• I think if they replace the green plant pots
outside the shop with pots bearing fresh
flowers ,will definitely enhance the look of the
shop. Similarly will act as a source to attract
  customers.
• Adding up more lights focusing the green
plants placed out will in turn give the shop a
bigger and very natural look .
5.OPTP (shop name)
6.Moven Pick(shop name)
• I see an opportunity of increase in customer
attraction if Moven Pick offer a free sample for
tasting their ice creams.it could be facilitated
in a small attached counter with tiny
disposable cups with tiny disposable spoons
for free tasting of different flavors of ice
  cream.
