2. CHARACTER(S)
• Our main character, Jake (18), is portrayed as a stereotypical teenage
boy. However, he is presented as someone who somewhat bullies
others, and as revenge, he is put up to a challenge too. His personality
is displayed as arrogant, yet very helpless towards situations, almost
like a real teenage boy.
3. SAW 1
• Our main inspiration for our production is Saw. This is because it
completely reiterates what we want to include in our opening
sequence. The whole storyline of Saw is someone who challenges
others, as Jake does, but this time Jake is the one being challenged.
As Jakes challenge is deadly; also relates to our film as his challenge
is to chisel a capsule out of his penis in 60 seconds, or die. Saw
includes this in their film as they have given set challenges to
someone but within a time limit also, the result of them not
completing the challenge is death.
4. OTHER AS PRODUCTIONS
• By analysing previous thriller/horror productions from few years ago
has also given us a few ideas for our film.
• The antagonist being anonymous was inspired by another AS group,
alongside with using a similar location seen in a different production.
• Some shots also inspired us as we believed it would look better
included in our production. Such as the cliff hanger at the end, leaving
the audience wondering what might be happening next.
5. GENERAL THRILLER/HORROR FILMS
• Overall, most thriller and horror films tend to leave the audience on
the edge, play with their minds and frighten them by what is playing
on the screen. As a group we had decided to incorporate this in our
production by using the codes and conventions, and hopefully if
successful, our production will look realistic but not too predictable as
it fails to frighten the audience as much. Therefore, as group we had
decided on leaving the film as a cliff hanger, letting the audience
decide what choice or what outcome may come out of his challenge.
