Top News :
• India Cements has approved a scheme of amalgamation of Trinetra Cement and Trishul Concrete Products with the Company . As per the
aforesaid scheme,- 2 equity shares of The India Cements Limited will be issued to the shareholders of Trinetra Cement Limited (TCL) for every 9
equity shares held by them in TCL . 7 equity share The India Cements Limited will be issued to the shareholders of Trishul Concrete Products
Limited (TCPL) for every 3 (Three) equity shares held by them in TCPL.
• Huhtavefa BV purchased another 3.01 percent stake in paper product that was a off-market purchase transaction through a negotiated private
placement . Paper Products (PPL) is a subsidiary of Finland-based Huhtamaki Packaging Worldwide. Huhtamaki was holding 60.77 percent (or
3,80,95,166 equity shares) in PPL through its holding company Huhtavefa BV.
• JSW Steel reported 17 per cent growth in crude steel production at 11.09 lakh tonnes (LT) for the month of January. The company, headed by
Sajjan Jindal, had produced 9.51 LT of crude steel in the same month last year. The numbers include steel production from Dolvi facility of
erstwhile JSW Ispat Steel, which has now been merged into JSW.
• CEAT Tyres has announced the resumption of production at their manufacturing plant in Bhandup, Mumbai. The plant was temporarily shut
down for some time after a fire broke out in its raw material store on the evening of February 23, 2014
• Arvind Goodhill Suit Manufacturing Ltd, a joint venture between Arvind Ltd and Goodhill Corporation of Japan, has launched formal suits.
• Lupin Ltd (Lupin) announced has received final approval for its Rifabutin Capsules USP, 150 mg from the United States Food and Drugs
Administration (FDA) to market a generic version of Pharmacia and Upjohn Company’s Mycobutin Capsules 150 mg. Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc.
(LPI), the company’s US subsidiary would commence marketing the product shortly.
• Tech Mahindra has signed an agreement to acquire the IT and consultancy services business of chemical giant BASF in a bid to strengthen its
presence in Western Europe. Financial details of the deal, made through its German subsidiary, were not disclosed. It is expected to close by June
this year.
• Bharat Petroleum has raised 175 million Swiss francs (around Rs 1,240 crore) through an international bond sale at a coupon of 2.988 percent.
The notes are rated at the same level as BPCL's issuer default rating of 'BBB-' as they will constitute direct, unconditional, unsubordinated and
unsecured obligations of the company, says Fitch
• Gfk said that its index of Germany’s consumer climate rose to 8.5, from 8.3 in the preceding month whose figure was revised up from 8.2.
Analysts had expected Gfk consumer climate to remain unchanged at 8.2 last month.
• The Office for National Statistics said gross domestic product expanded by a seasonally adjusted 0.7% in the fourth quarter, in line with
expectations and unchanged from an initial estimate. The U.K.’s economy grew by 0.8% in the preceding quarter.
• Statistics Norway said that Norwegian Unemployment Rate rose to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.6%, from 3.5% in the preceding
month. Analysts had expected Norwegian Unemployment Rate to remain unchanged at 3.5% last month.
4. Management Tweets :
• Jagran Prakashan Mgt Guideline : Company expects improvement in ad growth in the range of about 12-13 percent for FY14. Company does
not see margins improving in this quarter as compared to Q3 but expects them to do better by atleast 200 basis points in 2014-2015. Jagran
Prakashan aims revenue growth of about 13-14 percent for FY15.
• VIP Industries Mgt Guideline : Company expects revenue growth at 12-15 percent this fiscal. Company says the company is likely to see good
numbers in the days to come as Q1 FY15 is seasonally a strong quarter.
• Elecon Engineering Mgt guideline : Company won an order worth Rs 247 crore . The company’s total order book stands at around Rs 1,710
crore. Mgt expects margins to the tune of 5-7 percent on the order.
