Owls are very versatile birds that can live in a variety of habitats, including forested areas, trees, barns, shrubs, underground burrows, and abandoned houses. They mark a limited territory as their own where they hide during the day and hunt predators at night. Some species can also live in rainforests, being well-adapted to the normal humidity and rain. Though commonly believed to live only in trees, owls have been found in many sheltered areas where they can find good refuge.
