De Ruwenberg was originally an estate beside the Dommel river from 1337 to 1852. In 1852, it was sold to the Catholic church and became a seminary, where over 360 of its 1100 students became priests by 1902. It later became a boarding school in 1965 and was declared a monument in 1968. In 1989, it was sold to its current owner and transformed into a conference and training center from 1989 to 2001. The center now hosts national and international corporate meetings, training seminars, and conventions, offering modern conference rooms, an amphitheater, dining facilities, and sporting amenities like an indoor pool and tennis courts.
