4. WHO WOULD THE AUDIENCE
BE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

Audience
The audience for my media product is a 70-30 ratio of
women to men. As the ratio is more towards one side, I
made sure that the main target audience of my magazine
was women. From the questionnaire that I conduced in the
research stage of the magazine, I found that the target
audience of the folk genre of music would be women aged
around 20-30 years old.
Actual Audience
Despite there being a specific target audience of the
magazine, the actual audience could vary depending on
whether or not the audience likes the folk genre of music
and is attracted to buying the magazine.
One-off audiences
For example, there could be one off audiences of my
magazine who are only a fan of the main band featured in
the issue of the magazine, so buy the magazine in order to
read about their favourite band or artist. Even though this
audience is not the target audience of my media
product, they still contribute to many of the magazine sales.
