PowerPoint game.
Hello my name is Nathaniel Ashford and I am going to be going through this PowerPoint. It is designed for fun and goes through different questions regarding communication.
Being able how to speak with people in a clear and concise way is very important when you want to communicate effectively. Having this skill is a good way to talk to lots of different people. Effective communication is important because it allows you to communicate efficiently so all of your points are heard.
An open ended question is a question that can have more than a yes and no answer. It can have a range of different answers. For example if you ask someone how many sugars they would like in their tea. The response would be something like “I would like 2 sugars in my tea please.”
A closed ended question would only have one answer. A yes or no answer. For example a question would be would you like a cup of tea. The answer would be yes please or no thank you.
A scaled question is a basic form of the likert scale but the likert scale predominantly used in a form of a research questionnaire. The likert scale is commonly interchanged with the rating scale. A common questionnaire layout that uses the likert scale will have the answers strongly agree, agree, unsure, disagree and strongly disagree.
The best way to present yourself in an interview is to sit up straight and maintain eye contact. Doing this will ensure you look professional and confident.
A fairly common misunderstanding is using there when its suppose to be their. This is also common with a few other words. It can be difficult for people to understand if they are new to the language. The misunderstanding here is counting your fingers the wrong way round in different countries this can mean different things.
The correct way of speaking is to speak clear and with confidence. It is important to do this as it shows you are mature. It will also make you look professional and enables you to be heard by everyone.
Al fresco means dining outside but there are many different misconceptions with the word.
There are 3 different misunderstandings with the word there. For example there are 3 people over there. Another misunderstanding is their meaning something belongs to them its “their” property. The last misunderstanding is there as in its over there.
You should speak at a speed that is natural for you.
You should use what ever language that is comfortable in your situation. If you’re with friends you should speak informally and when in the workplace you should speak professionally.
You should nod when you are agreeing with what someone is saying.
Background noise is just like when you're in a restaurant and everyone is talking in the background you literally cant hear anything.
Emoticons should be used casually when talking to a friend. When instant messaging or emails.
Speaking clearly is important because it means you can be heard easily and your points can become more ephasised.
The lack of concentration can affect a conversation because it will make people loose interest on what you are saying. Having a lack of concentration when you’re talking to someone is rude.
Negative language is bad because it can be offensive. Being offensive is bad because it can make you look like a fool and in the workplace this is not a good thing.
You should use a modular tone of voice because it will keep people interested in what you are saying.
Grammar is important because it is professional. It is fine to not type with proper grammar when you are speaking informally with friends.
Being engaged shows you are interested in the conversation. It will also show you’re polite Maintaining eye contact will also show you’re engaged with the conversation.
