Chubb Fire recycles 95% of fire extinguishers returned by processing the powder inside into fertilizer. They remove 10 tonnes of powder per week from extinguishers in a filtered booth and send it for agricultural use, saving £4500 per week in hazardous waste landfill fees compared to their previous practice of sending powder to landfill. It took Chubb Fire over a year to find a company to cost-effectively process the powder for fertilizer use.
