Google began in 1995 as a research project between Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. They developed a search engine called BackRub and later renamed it Google in 1997. Google launched its homepage in 1998 and has since expanded to offer many products and services including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Chrome, Android, and YouTube which Google acquired in 2006. Google has grown tremendously from its origins as a research project to become a dominant force in internet search and technology.
2. History
• Google began in March 1995 as a research project by Larry
Page and Sergey Brin, Ph.D. students at Stanford University
• In search of a dissertation theme, Page had been considering—
among other things—exploring the mathematical properties of
the World Wide Web, understanding its link structure as a
huge graph. His supervisor, Terry Winograd, encouraged him to
pick this idea (which Page later recalled as "the best advice I ever
got" and Page focused on the problem of finding out which web
pages link to a given page, based on the consideration that the
number and nature of such backlinks was valuable information
for an analysis of that page
• In his research project, nicknamed "BackRub", Page was soon
joined by Brin, who was supported by a National Science
Foundation Graduate Fellowship.[5] Brin was already a close
friend, whom Page had first met in the summer of 1995—Page
was part of a group of potential new students that Brin had
volunteered to show around the campus.[3] Both Brin and Page
were working on the Stanford Digital Library Project (SDLP). The
SDLP's goal was “to develop the enabling technologies for a
single, integrated and universal digital library" and it was funded
through the National Science Foundation, among other federal
agencies

4. History Of Google
Symbol designs
• In 1998, Sergey Brin created a computerized version of the Google letters
using the free graphics program GIMP. The typeface was changed and an
exclamation mark was added, mimicking the Yahoo! logo."There were a lot
of different color iterations", says Ruth Kedar, the graphic designer who
developed the now-famous logo. "We ended up with the primary colors,
but instead of having the pattern go in order, we put a secondary color on
the L, which brought back the idea that Google doesn't follow the rules.
• In 2010, the Google logo received its first major and permanent overhaul
since May 31, 1999. The new logo was first previewed on November 8,
2009, and was officially launched on May 6, 2010.[ It utilises an identical
typeface to the previous logo, but the "o" is distinctly more orange-colored
in place of the previously more yellowish "o", as well as a much more
subtle shadow rendered in a different shading style. On September 19,
2013, Google introduced a new "flat" (two-dimensional) logo with a
slightly altered color palette. On May 24, 2014 the Google logo was
updated, the second 'g' has moved right one pixel and the 'l' has moved
down and right one pixel. The old 2010 Google logo is still used on some
pages, such as the Google Doodles page.

12. YouTube Joins
• On October 9, 2006, it was announced that the company would be
purchased by Google for US$1.65 billion in stock. The purchase
agreement between Google and YouTube came after YouTube
presented three agreements with media companies in an attempt
to escape the threat of copyright-infringement lawsuits. YouTube
planned to continue operating independently, with its co-founders
and 67 employees working within Google.[15] The deal to acquire
YouTube closed on November 13, and was, at the time, Google's
second largest acquisition. Google's February 7, 2007 SEC filing
revealed the breakdown of profits for YouTube's investors after the
sale to Google. At the time of reporting, Chad Hurley's at more than
$395 million, Steve Chen's at more than $326 million,Jawed Karim's
at more than $64 million., Sequoia invested around $9 million and
received $516 million and Artis Capital Management invested $3
million and received $85 million.
