Project Motivation
 12000 lives and 35000 injuries annually ( ARI, 2016 )
 Economic cost is 2 to 3% of the country’s GDP, an
enormous loss in health related cost (WHO, South
Asian Chapter, 2015 )
 In Bangladesh, average 8 persons die everyday. (BRTA)
 1 child is killed in road accident, every 3 minutes in the
world
What is Automatic Vehicle Brake System?
 Automobile Safety System
 Allows the wheels on a
motor vehicle to maintain
tractive contact
 Prevents the wheels from
locking uo
 Avoids uncontrolled
skidding
 In case of manual brake, only
40% of the drivers apply brake
in accidental situations .
 There were casualities about
2.6 millions last year due to
front end vehicle collison only.
 Laboratory test result states
that, 47% of the impact collision
can be reduced using brake
automation. ( NHTSA- 2016)

• Emitter/Transducer:
Emits ultrasonic
waves frontward.
• Detector/ Receiver:
receives a reflective
ultrasonic wave signal.
• Detection pulse:
Measures the distance
between car and
obstacles

Working Principle
Advantages
 It allows driver to maintain directional stability.
 It is more helpful for new, inexperienced
drivers.
 It controls over the steering to avoid unwanted
collision.
 It is safe & effective.
Disadvantages
 Difficult to sense from soft, curved, thin or
small objects.
 It is very costly.
 Maintenance cost of a car after equipped with
this technology rises higher.
