INTERNET
 The internet, sometimes called simply "the net"
is a w o rldw ide sy ste m o f c o mpute r ne tw o rk s.
 T oday, the internet is a public, cooperativ e and
se lf -sustaining facility accessible to hundreds
millio ns o f pe o ple w o rldw ide .
DISTANCE EDUCATION
Is a form of education in which there is normally a separation
between teacher and learner.
Is a way of learning remotely without being in regular face-to-
face contact with a teacher in the classroom.
THE INTERNET IN DISTANCE
EDUCATION
The widespread use of computers and the
internet have made distance learning easier
and faster, and it increased rapidly in almost
every country in both developed and
developing countries.
Due to these developments, the field of
distance education is growing.
Internet in distance education is used
which teachers and students are able to
present text, pictures, audio and video.
File sharing and communication tools like
e-mail, chats, audio and video
conferencing are integral to the internet
model.
 The capacity of Internet to support voice,
video, text and immersion teaching
methods.
 Through the rapid development of internet
has resulted in systems such as:
- time and place flexibility
- quick development time
- easy updating content
- potential to reach a global audience
With the advent of the internet, the distance
education learners are increased level of
interaction, communication, and
collaboration between teachers, students
and their institution.
Synchronous
which means the instructors and students are online at
the same time and typically interact via video, live
chat, or an Internet meeting format. Students can
post or ask questions and receive immediate responses
from the course instructor or other students.
Asynchronous
Asynchronous distance learning occurs when the
teacher and the pupils interact in different places
and during different times. Asynchronous distance
learning often relies on technology such as email,
pre-recorded video lectures, and mp3s and audio
recordings.
LIMITATIONS OF INTERNET
The quality of information resources might not
always be reliable and accurate.
Searching of information can be very tedious.
Internet is definitely not 100% secure.
Limited bandwidth and slow modems , while the
requirements for audio and video are high.
Which technology is best?
No one technology is best for all
situations and applications. Different
technologies have different
capabilities and limitations, and
effective implementation will depend
on matching technological
capabilities to education needs.

  • 2. THE INTERNET AND DISTANCE EDUCATION INTERNET  The internet, sometimes called simply "the net" is a w o rldw ide sy ste m o f c o mpute r ne tw o rk s.  T oday, the internet is a public, cooperativ e and se lf -sustaining facility accessible to hundreds millio ns o f pe o ple w o rldw ide .
  • 3. DISTANCE EDUCATION Is a form of education in which there is normally a separation between teacher and learner. Is a way of learning remotely without being in regular face-to- face contact with a teacher in the classroom.
  • 4. THE INTERNET IN DISTANCE EDUCATION The widespread use of computers and the internet have made distance learning easier and faster, and it increased rapidly in almost every country in both developed and developing countries. Due to these developments, the field of distance education is growing.
  • 5. Internet in distance education is used which teachers and students are able to present text, pictures, audio and video. File sharing and communication tools like e-mail, chats, audio and video conferencing are integral to the internet model.
  • 6.  The capacity of Internet to support voice, video, text and immersion teaching methods.  Through the rapid development of internet has resulted in systems such as: - time and place flexibility - quick development time - easy updating content - potential to reach a global audience
  • 7. With the advent of the internet, the distance education learners are increased level of interaction, communication, and collaboration between teachers, students and their institution.
  • 8. Synchronous which means the instructors and students are online at the same time and typically interact via video, live chat, or an Internet meeting format. Students can post or ask questions and receive immediate responses from the course instructor or other students.
  • 9. Asynchronous Asynchronous distance learning occurs when the teacher and the pupils interact in different places and during different times. Asynchronous distance learning often relies on technology such as email, pre-recorded video lectures, and mp3s and audio recordings.
  • 10. LIMITATIONS OF INTERNET The quality of information resources might not always be reliable and accurate. Searching of information can be very tedious. Internet is definitely not 100% secure. Limited bandwidth and slow modems , while the requirements for audio and video are high.
  • 12. No one technology is best for all situations and applications. Different technologies have different capabilities and limitations, and effective implementation will depend on matching technological capabilities to education needs.
