Participants of Creating Authentic Learning with
Moodle (CALM) will receive administrator rights as
teachers of a Moodle course, so they can explore
the resources and activities available in a Moodle
course. After exploring the resources and activities,
participants will document their work by creating
video tutorials using screencasts-o-matic or
Slidespeech. They will add their video tutorials on
the following Padlet wall: Creating Resources and
Activities

Participants of Creating Authentic Learning with
Moodle (CALM) will receive administrator rights as
mangers of a Moodle course, so they can explore
the blocks available in a Moodle course. After
exploring the blocks, participants will document
their work by creating video tutorials using
screencasts-o-matic or slidespeech. They will add
their video tutorials on the following Padlet wall:

explore the settings available in a Moodle course.
After exploring the settings, participants will
document their work by creating video tutorials
using screencasts-o-matic or Slidespeech. They
will add their video tutorials on the following

Discuss the meaning of authentic learning and brainstorm ideas for
collaborative lessons and projects.
Choose the format for the course: fully online, blended, or flipped.

Create 2 min video-tutorials about one of the Moodle features or
tools.

  • 4. 4 Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Participants of Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle (CALM) will receive administrator rights as teachers of a Moodle course, so they can explore the resources and activities available in a Moodle course. After exploring the resources and activities, participants will document their work by creating video tutorials using screencasts-o-matic or Slidespeech. They will add their video tutorials on the following Padlet wall: Creating Resources and Activities
  • 5. 5 Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Participants of Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle (CALM) will receive administrator rights as mangers of a Moodle course, so they can explore the blocks available in a Moodle course. After exploring the blocks, participants will document their work by creating video tutorials using screencasts-o-matic or slidespeech. They will add their video tutorials on the following Padlet wall: Blocks on Moodle
  • 6. 6 Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Participants of Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle (CALM) will receive administrator rights as manager of a Moodle course, so they can explore the settings available in a Moodle course. After exploring the settings, participants will document their work by creating video tutorials using screencasts-o-matic or Slidespeech. They will add their video tutorials on the following Padlet wall: Setting up a Moodle Course

Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Part 1: Introduction to the Workshop, Screencast-o-matic, and Participants (30 min): Moodle as a platform designed for authentic learning and pedagogy of engagement. Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Part 2: Learning and Teaching with Moodle (30 min): Learn to navigate a Moodle course, use the rich editor and record audio and video using PoodLL, navigate and update personal Moodle profile, and post to the online discussion forums. Discuss the meaning of authentic learning and brainstorm ideas for collaborative lessons and projects. Choose the format for the course: fully online, blended, or flipped.
  • 15. Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Part 3: Explore Moodle Tools (30 min) Explore, apply, and document the resources available on Moodle (labels, books, web links, file links, compose web pages) Explore, apply, and document the activities available on the Moodle (3 kinds of discussion forums, choices, assignments, checklists)
  • 18. Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Part 4: Set Up a Course (90 min): Explore, apply, and document the blocks (plugins) available on the Moodle. Learn about the administration of a course. Set up a course, add users, create groups, grades, and categories. Create 2 min video-tutorials about one of the Moodle features or tools.
  • 22. Creating Authentic Learning with Moodle Part 5: Show and Tell (30 min) Present individual course sections with utilized Moodle tools (activities and resources). Share the video tutorials used to capture the features on Moodle Reflect and share feedback on the Moodle experience.
