- Add some pictures of yourself, your family, a hobby, etc. Show your students you are a REAL human being!
- Update slide to reflect ClassConnect and Office Hour dates and times. Input dedicated work phone number (Google Voice). Select either OLS Kmail or Bb Journals/Communication picture to remind students of the appropriate communication method. Do not leave both to avoid student confusion. Include at least one Instant Messenger acct. Many of your colleagues use AIM; many students use Google Chat, Yahoo, and Skype – to avoid downloading multiple programs onto your computer, use a free IM management program such as Trillian
- Use your own polling question or use ours. Be sure to publish the results to the whiteboard. Also, don’t forget to file transfer the Expectations of Behavior document.
- Application Share the classroom (or a very close example) to give students an idea of what they should see and briefly explain how to navigate around and find their grades. Highlight other important features (discussion board, resources/Doc Sharing), etc.
- Update the Next Steps to appropriate steps your students should follow for your course/platform. Guide them to a successful first day.
