2. About the Williams Syndrome Association
• Formed in 1982, the Williams Syndrome Association
(WSA) was created to support families that include
someone with Williams syndrome. A non-profit
organization headquartered in Troy, Michigan, the WSA’s
mission is to provide information and emotional support to
people living with Williams syndrome. The group is
dedicated to building community programs and services
and increasing the public's understanding about the
disorder.
3. Services Offered by the WSA
• The WSA is here to help. It does not matter at what stage
a friend or family member with Williams syndrome is. The
group offers resources and support to guide individuals
from diagnosis to treatment through adulthood, and
provides the latest medical information, which is meant to
help individuals through everyday life.
4. Volunteers and the WSA
• Volunteers for the WSA community furnish day-to-day
support to people with Williams syndrome and their
families. Most volunteers have a relative or loved one with
the condition, so they know firsthand the challenges
involved in caring for such individuals. Because the
community is relatively small and widely dispersed, the
WSA encourages the development of local chapters.
