Search engine marketing (SEO) 
Social media marketing (SMM) 
Maybe a handful of you plans to work on ‘whatever comes next’ type of mindset. If you have any of

You think content marketing isn’t important? Carry on reading — I’m sure you’ll be blown away. 
What is content marketing? 
According to Wikipedia, content marketing is any marketing that involves the creation and sharing of 
media and publishing content in order to acquire and retain customers. 
Take a look at the words in bold; media and publishing content. 
This means that it doesn’t matter if you are doing an infographic, writing a sales letter or preparing an 
email followup, you are using words and content to make your readers tick.

marketing in 2015.
1. Content marketing planning 
Every marketing process needs a plan and the same goes to content marketing. Content marketing is 
all about using the right content to reach out (and target) the right audience. 
I personally consider content marketing as a Rifle Approach (more on this approach here). 
Rifle Approach means that you should be targeting specific targets or audience with contents and 
words that matters most to them. 
This may seem to be a very time consuming task and I’m not denying it either. It takes a lot of time to 
get it all sorted out but trust me, it worth every second you invest into it. 
Here are the steps to start a content marketing strategy: 
Understanding your ultimate goal (long term goals) 
Be selective of your short term goals (these will lead to your success) 
Finding your target audience 
Perform research to understand their problem
Recheck your target audience list again to further skim down the numbers 
Determine the type of contents that they would appreciate (length, type etc) 
Prepare a sketch prior to completing the article 
Use Google Analytics or other similar tools to determine the success of the article 
Repeat the whole process 
As for the record, ultimate goal would take anywhere between one to six months to complete while 
short term goals can be accomplished with just a blog post. 
Note: All your short term goals must bring you closer to achieving the ultimate goal. 
2. Content publishing strategies 
It doesn’t matter if you are running a brick and mortar or an online business; you need to have a 
website or a company blog. 
Make no mistake – A blog is a great source of web marketing.

Writing great content doesn’t guarantees search engine visibility. With Google changing algorithms all 
the time, it is challenging for content marketers to determine what works today.

Keywords in article 
No spammy links 
AS a content writer, you need to ensure that you take into account for both content marketing and 
search engine optimization factors for the maximum visibility. 
Personally, what works for me is a 60 – 40 rule where 60% of the blog posts are focused entirely on my 
readers and the balance 40% are aiming towards search engine optimization.
4. Integrating content marketing into social media 
Social media is not only a site to dump all your blog links, sales pages or even advertisements. In fact, 
good writers integrate content marketing into social media. 
Social media platforms such as Google Plus is often considered a micro blogging site. Instead of 
sharing a post that contain a few links and blog snippets, Google Plus-ers are often sharing a longer 
social post content to create discussion and engagement. 
Take a moment to think about it. Could this be the new content marketing strategy for 2015? 
Absolutely yes! 
The biggest question now would be, “How will you integrate content marketing into your social 
media strategy?” 
5. Kick start the content marketing strategy 
By now, you should have a good gasp of the upcoming content marketing trends in 2015 (and beyond) 
and the latest step boils down to one thing only; getting your content marketing started. 
The whole process is pretty straight forward: 
Finding contents that worth the time curating (and which your readers would love) 
Getting a few copies and merging them into an awesome post (you can even create blog series) 
Determine the right time to hit publish! 
As 2015 is coming real close, there is absolutely no time to waste and the first step is to find contents to 
curate. 
My go-to content curation tool is Feedly and it allows you to segment important topics under one folder. 
There are also other tools you may use such as Flipboar and Scoop.it.

This may seem to be a very time consuming task and I’m not denying it either. It takes a lot of time to get it all sorted out but trust me, it worth every second you invest into it. Here are the steps to start a content marketing strategy: Understanding your ultimate goal (long term goals) Be selective of your short term goals (these will lead to your success) Finding your target audience Perform research to understand their problem

Recheck your target audience list again to further skim down the numbers Determine the type of contents that they would appreciate (length, type etc) Prepare a sketch prior to completing the article Use Google Analytics or other similar tools to determine the success of the article Repeat the whole process As for the record, ultimate goal would take anywhere between one to six months to complete while short term goals can be accomplished with just a blog post. Take a moment to think about it. Could this be the new content marketing strategy for 2015? Absolutely yes! The biggest question now would be, “How will you integrate content marketing into your social media strategy?” 5. Kick start the content marketing strategy By now, you should have a good gasp of the upcoming content marketing trends in 2015 (and beyond) and the latest step boils down to one thing only; getting your content marketing started. The whole process is pretty straight forward: Finding contents that worth the time curating (and which your readers would love) Getting a few copies and merging them into an awesome post (you can even create blog series) Determine the right time to hit publish!
